Neil MacLean's letter (Aug. 6) has helped to bring the real issue of the energy hub to the opinion page.

Electricity use will increase in the future, whether it be for batteries to power our cars or hydrogen production to power our planes.

I would like to elaborate on his points.

Re: Half-truths on reactor deplorable (SP, June 4). Polarization seems to have rendered an open and honest debate about nuclear power virtually impossible, but let's at least get some facts straight.

I cannot comment on what Bruce Power has or hasn't said in Saskatchewan, but some of the mistakes in Jean-Pierre Ducasse's Op-ed are also deplorable.

It may be time for Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) to be restructured, but selling off majority control of the company is not the way to go.

Canada risks losing thousands of jobs; we could lose the technology as well.
